Hello Angels, Welcome back to Mimy’s Journal! I’ve finally decided to bring back the Sunday Edit series and I’m so excited!
If it’s your first time here, feel free to check out the older posts in the series to get an idea of what it’s about. Today, I’ll also share a little update about my upcoming ebook how it’s going and when it will be released…
Movie to watch : Hope floats
A young housewife moves into her mother's house with her daughter after her husband admits to an affair with her best friend on national television. She must learn to be a single working mother.
To Read :
Exteriors Annie Ernaux
GoodReads description : Taking the form of random journal entries over the course of seven years, Exteriors concentrates on the ephemeral encounters that take place just on the periphery of a person's lived environment. Ernaux captures the feeling of contemporary living on the outskirts of Paris: poignantly lyrical, chaotic, and strangely alive. Exteriors is in many ways the most ecstatic of Ernaux's books – the first in which she appears largely free of the haunting personal relationships she has written about so powerfully elsewhere, and the first in which she is able to leave the past behind her.
There is No Unmarked Women by Deborah Tannen - Document of 4 Pages
One woman had dark brown hair in a classic style, a cross between Cleopatra and Plain Jane. The severity of her straight hair was softened by wavy bangs and ends that turned under. Because she was beautiful, the effect was more Cleopatra than plain.
The second woman was older, full of dignity and composure. Her hair was cut in a fashionable style that left her with only one eye, thanks to a side part that let a curtain of hair fall across half her face. As she looked down to read her prepared paper, the hair robbed her of bifocal vision and created a barrier between her and the listeners.
Then there was makeup. The first woman wore facial cover that made her skin smooth and pale, a black line under each eye and mascara that darkened already dark lashes. The second wore only a light gloss on her lips and a hint of shadow on her eyes. The third had blue bands under her eyes, dark blue shadow, mascara, bright red lipstick and rouge; her fingernails flashed red.

Ebook update :
The ebook is still in progress, I’m not sure when exactly it’ll be released maybe July, maybe August or September but it’s coming, and I truly can’t wait for you to read it.
The launch will include a special offer: the first 10 or 15 readers will get it at a reduced price, then it’ll go back to its regular price. Recently, I wrote about cinema and the directors who’ve inspired me. And just last week, I explored the world of scent an essay on perfume notes and how to discover your signature fragrance. I’m honestly loving every part of this , and I hope reading it will bring you just as much joy as writing it brought me.
I want to feel connected to you all maybe on Substack chat or in Instagram channel where I can share what I love: hauls, books I’m reading, perfumes I wear, daily vibes… just fun little things. But I’m not sure if people really check those chats, since I don’t usually do it myself haha. What do you think? Should I go with Substack chat or start an Instagram channel?

Products I’m loving :
The Ordinary Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG
I got this as a gift last week and decided to try it so here’s my honest review!
At first, I was a bit scared to apply it under my eyes because I tend to react easily to skincare products. So I tested it on my face first, and surprisingly it absorbed super quickly and kept my skin nicely hydrated! I did a bit of research on caffeine and EGCG in skincare — both are antioxidants and actually really beneficial for the skin. I found that they’re used not only in eye creams but also in general face serums. So I think I’ll keep using it as part of my daily routine.Doing these little skincare deep-dives reminds me of back in 2021 when I was obsessed with growing my hair longer. I researched everything rosemary oil, all the oils you can imagine and honestly the science-backed methods always worked best. I’m glad I’m a physiologist I genuinely love understanding the mechanisms behind things!
