The urge to buy more
My shopping addiction , retail therapy , little treats , consumerism and tiktok …
I know i’m not the only one when i feel sad i think about shopping , buying new products , sweet treats , i create tons of wishlists i think that if i buy something new my depression or sadness will go away but IT’S NOT TRUE .
In my birthday i found myself crying i didn’t know why i just needed to cry that day i felt sad , lonely i was like i need to go out and buy something maybe i will become better , i bought a new gloss i had on my wishlist a yummy croissant ate it in the park and some perfumes and yes i instanly became happy , why shopping do this to me ? a lil walk and buying things i have on my wishlist can change the sadness to happiness it’s strange , what if i didn’t have money that day ? shopping is a good distraction but sometimes i end up with useless products and i regret it a lot i don’ want to feel that anymore i don’t have a job i save money sometimes and to be honest my money mainly is spent on sweet treats , makeup products , lip glosses and lip liners and perfumes i barely buy clothes it’s so hard for me to find unique tops , the perfect jean so in my closet i really have few clothes ( capsule wardrbe i think? ) but i always want more and more i’m a proud outfit repeater , when i look at my pinterest board i feel so happy i mean it will take time to get everything i have there but need to wait and to be patient i have a lot of boards ( omg need to organize them bc it’s messy there ) i have a board called skincare to buy and i put everything i see on tiktok , recommendations , … i feel the need to buy one product at least once a month to feel something maybe these products will give me a glass skin who knows but I’M BROKE
I love scrolling on tiktok i have 100 videos about lip combos , perfumes to try … i have the urge to own many lip products well i don’t know why i’m like this but i think it’s bc of tiktok , new videos on my fyp everyday about the rhode lip treatement , the mac lip liner , the new clarins lip perfector and the list is long so when i see this i just have the urge to own it as if this will solve my problems lolll , it’s so hard sometimes i completely forget about the things i truly need and go buy new lip products and i already own the same shade and 10 other glosses this is so badd i needed to stop this
Send a message here if you have a post you want to read in Mimy’s journal i would love to know
Yesterday i was scrolling on my ig and saw this about different lip products and lip liners i felt that i need more in my collection in this different shades HELP
Glad i stopped using twitter / tiktok a bit lately and started watching more videos on youtube it’s better i learn things instead of buying actually i learned a lot of things and i’m so grateful about it missed youtube so much in the end of the post i will share with you what i will start doing maybe this will help too , last time bought a clarins lip oil and then in the same day wanted to get the lip perfector glad i didn’t take it it’s in my wishlist i buy it once i finish the products i have , no more impulsive purchases
My favorite person on tiktok is yola she’s so inspiring and so well spoken i aspire to be her i loved this video so much she’s absolutely right we should be strict with our purchases so i will think a lot before buying something this time and wait maybe in 15 days i don’t want it anymore so that’s what i will do and i will focus on my closet gaps this time instead of buying useless things i won’t use
I dream of the dyson airwrap i can’t buy it it’s so expensive but who knows i’m sure i will get it one day everything is possible i want the gorgeous fresh blowouts i see on tiktok and the silky hair omg my dream
The rhode case is everywhere it’s gorgeous but i think it’s not neceessary to get it’s a want and not a need , using wishlists doesn’t work for me i need a new tip for impulsive purchases share your tips if you have any here
Read this article if you feel lost in your 20s
The goal is to save money and spend it wisely instead of impulsive purchases if i have 10 lip products there’s no need to buy more i should finish the ones i have then i buy it’s better this way also i will save some money and spend it on clothes instead
Also if i truly want this product i save for it and wait instead of going immediately and buy that’s what i will do
NEW ME : i will start enjoying the little things instead the little walk , the food i eat , the style i have , the clothes i wear the things i already own and be grateful of what i have instead of wishing for more that’s it
Videos to watch :

More and more I have the thought that I have to live with less things, but I love maximalism in homes, for example. Objects are a way of expressing ourselves that begins between childhood and adolescence because it is the only thing we can ask for or buy. Objects are part of our personality. It is true that buying makes me go from being sad to being happy for a short moment, but objects do not fill the void that I am trying to fill. I am 24 years old, I live with my parents, I am finishing my degree, I have more doubts than certainties, the only thing I have is money from my job to give myself some treats. So it seems that I always buy things, it is the only thing I can do. In order not to try to waste money, I try to separate my finances: savings for long-term goals, savings for necessary short-term purchases, monthly or daily expenses, a part to spend with my partner or friends and a small part to give myself a gift: like books, a painting, a t-shirt that I really like, etc.
Thankyou for this, it’s soooo hard! Have you felt any better since giving up tik tok and instagram? I think they’re such a big part of it. The answer is definitely to be grateful for what you have and clock off your phone and spend some time in front of the mirror experimenting and playing around with what you have. The feeling you want is self love. When we buy we feel like we’re loving on ourselves because we associate little gifts with love. But self care is enjoying and utilising what we have ❤️
