Summer in the south of france
July edit : What's on my mind lately , what i'm loving , how i spend my days in france and more
Last week, I went on the best solo date ever. Honestly, every solo date feels a little more magical when you’re in France. There’s something about the atmosphere, the beautiful streets the little cafés, the architecture, and the feeling of just wandering around and discovering new places by yourself that makes everything feel like a dream.
I wanted to explore a specific street I had been curious about, so I decided to make the day special and dress up just for myself. I wore the cutest lace butter-yellow and white top, which felt so delicate and romantic with my favorite thrifted beige skirt covered in tiny sequins that sparkled so beautifully when the light hit them.
I paired it with my little brown kitten heels, which made the whole outfit feel elegant but still comfortable enough to walk around and enjoy the day.
To complete the look, I wore a lovely gold necklace with a tiny butter yellow heart pendant it was such a small detail, but it made the outfit feel even more personal and cute. I wanted everything to feel soft, feminine and a little dreamy.
My hair was straight with soft little waves. I also wore one of my favorite perfumes with beautiful notes of jasmine and lily of the valley. The scent felt so fresh , delicate and romantic (almost like it matched the whole mood of the day)
There’s something I’ve always romanticized about going out alone and just being with my thoughts. I especially love it when I’m in a completely new country , discovering new places, meeting different people seeing new styles, and simply wandering through the streets with no real plan. That kind of exploring is honestly my idea of fun.
But lately, with the heatwave, I’ve been doing it less and less because the weather has become unbearably hot. It’s not like before when there was a cool breeze, fresh air, and that feeling of freedom that made walking around so enjoyable. I really miss those days when I could just go outside and wander for hours.
I have a weird obsession with midi skirts this summer, and I honestly don’t even know why. Wearing them makes me feel so chic and classy. I don’t know if I’m being influenced by Charlotte York or Carrie Bradshaw, but every time I see a midi skirt, I’m instantly drawn to it.
Last time I went thrifting, I found two unique ones that fit me perfectly, and I was so happy. I also got a polka dot one from Mango made with linen fabric for 50 euros , and I was like, “I don’t care, these midi skirts make me the happiest ever” so I’m going to keep wearing them.
Same with tops i finallyy found the perfecttttt white toppp.
I think midi skirts became my new personality, and lace and butter yellow toooooo. In my internship, a colleague asked me why I looked so beautiful, and then the whole group started calling me “princess” I think it’s because the midi skirts add so much personality to an outfit. They make a person look more classy, elegant and cute at the same time.
Also, there’s no way I’m wearing pants in this crazy heatwave nooooo way. Midi skirts are honestly the perfect summer thing: they’re comfortable, feminine and make me feel like myself.
I noticed that with clothes the more I find unique pieces, the more excited I get to discover the next cool item. It’s honestly so exciting, but sometimes I have to stop because I already have so many clothes in my room and I need to move lol.
Anyway, finding your personal style and discovering your taste in clothes is truly a magical experience. You start loving it so much because you find pieces that feel like you, and it’s such a fun feeling to discover something so cool.
The skirt i’m talking about , i know i’ll wear it all july lol
But alsooo with the midi skirt comes the whole question of how to match it with the perfect top, hairstyle and makeup it’s sooo important to focus on the whole look. The skirt is already such a statement piece, so everything else has to complete the vibe.
Okay enough talking about my favorite piece of clothing this summer hehehe. I actually want to talk to you like I’m talking to my diary.
I’ve been so busy with my internship, and I have like 1000 ideas of things I want to do. The thing is, I’m moving out of this house next month on 31 august, and I honestly have no idea how I’m going to do it. I need to find a new place here in the city as soon as possible.
I’m also thinking a lot about my long-term goals. I feel like I can already see myself living my dream life, but I need to actually act before it’s too late and take these opportunities. I don’t know why, but I keep saying, “I’ll leave it for next time, I’ll do it later” and then I end up doing nothing. It’s such a cycle.
I find myself getting distracted by silly things and forgetting that after my semester I need to find something I enjoy, find a job quickly or maybe move to another country and chase my dreams.
Okay I’ll tell you how I’m going to do ittttt and how I’ll make it happen. First of all, I got a haircut today like this oneeee. I was actually a little nervous at first but then I thought you know what? Hair grows back anyway.
I also cut my bangs a little, and I have to say my face literally changed for the better. I feel like I look way better and I don’t get sweaty as much anymore because short hair doesn’t feel as hot as long hair. So yeah, I’m really happy with it!
With this heat though, anything I wear or any hairstyle I do looks perfect when I’m at home, but after a few minutes outside I become extremely sweaty and my hair starts looking weird and my makeup is ruined . I really need to find a signature hairstyle because curls are honestly too hot to handle outside.
For makeup, I genuinely want to throw away half the products I own not because they don’t work, but because I want a new more curated skincare and makeup routine. I want to focus more on my skin health: targeting my dark circles, preventing tanning with SPF, and creating a routine that actually makes my skin look good.
I want an anti-face-sweat routine lol. I need my concealer to survive for hours in this sun. I want skincare to be the base of my makeup, because right now I only use serum and SPF , but I feel like I want to completely change my routine and create something that feels more like me.
First of all, I’ll write in my journal what I want to do in detail. I’ll remove all distractions by deleting apps I no longer use. I’ll do a brain dump in my journal and write down everything I want to finish, achieve, or work on this month. I’ll also add my tasks and plans to my Google Calendar every night before going to sleep.
I have to admit that writing things down by hand helps me feel more motivated and makes me more likely to actually take action and complete the things I want to do.
Ahhh, I forgot to talk about perfumes! This June, I’ve been so happy because I received new perfumes and discovered some really cool scents which made me extremely excited.
Recently, I’ve been obsessed with these two perfumes from a Parisian brand called Initio Parfums. They smell so unique and special, and I’m honestly loving them so much.
I get so happy whenever I try a new perfume that smells amazing and really feels like me. There’s something so exciting about discovering a scent that matches my personality. It’s honestly so much fun, and I just love the whole experience.
These last few months, I’ve started embracing my true self. I’ve begun wearing what I actually like and what makes me happy and I find that so cool. I used to dress normally but now every day feels like a good day to wear something cute. It’s honestly so fun.
I’ve been loving going outside at night lately. I’m not usually a night person, but in the city where I live, everything feels more alive at night. There are people dancing, cool gatherings and I’ve met English people and Erasmus students. It honestly makes me so happy because I love meeting new people.
Even though, recently I’ve been feeling a bit introverted haha, it’s getting better. I think the more you expose yourself to things that scare you, the more naturally they become part of your life.
For example, recently I met some really cool people including a doctor. Since I’m a biologist, it was so refreshing to talk about biology and medicine because I love these topics so much. It made me realize that mental compatibility with someone is far more important than having meaningless conversations.
I’ve also had a weird crush on someone for a few months. I didn’t really know why I liked him I think it was partly because of his crazy and spontaneous way of living. But now that I’m meeting new people and getting to know how they think, I’ve realized that conversations are so much more enjoyable when two people genuinely share common interests and can connect on deeper topics.
I’ve also been journaling recently and visiting perfume stores to discover new fragrances, which has been really fun. I’ll be more active on Substack, I promise. It’s just that I’m currently in a period of my life where so many things are happening all at once.
I’ll also share some YouTube videos I’ve been watching lately!
