A Letter to the Girls in Their 20s
Ebook updates, Weekly Joys, a letter to every girl in her 20s and YouTube videos to watch
Hello lovelies, welcome back to Mimy’s Journal! And welcome to all the new subscribers I'm so happy you're here!
As promised, today I’ll be sharing a preview of the ebook that’s coming (very soon I'll update you later with the exact date). It’s all about navigating your 20s how to spend your best years, and some real advice from a 23-year-old graduate still learning every day.
Everything is going great with the ebook, honestly! I’ve been creating new essays, editing every day, and I’m sooo excited for all the girls out there to finally read my work.
By the way, I read all your answers in the Google Form about what you want to see in the ebook and so many of you asked for a guide to navigating your 20s. I got lots of questions about where I find inspiration, how I stay creative, and more. These were repeated sooo many times haha, and I just loved reading them all. You're all so lovely it truly made me happy. Also surprise! I’ve collaborated with a few amazing Substack writers and content creators, and they’ve shared their thoughts on personal style, taste, and inspiration. So stay tuned, and don’t forget to register to pre-order before the ebook is out.
Recent YouTube video I made
A girl recently asked me how I suddenly became so consistent with posting here and what made me start pursuing Substack seriously.
Honestly, my answer is that back in March and April I was feeling so lost I didn’t know what to do with my life But two months later, everything started to feel clearer. I felt more inspired more myself again and that’s when I decided to come back and share this journey with you all. Substack is my favorite platform it’s where I feel free to just talk, express what I love, and connect in a fun, genuine way. I really hope I’ll keep updating you regularly in the next few months, but just a little heads-up: I might not be very active for the next 6 days since I have a few things to finish. That’s also why I wanted to share this little guide now, before taking a short break.
Joys of the Week :
I’ve been watching cool movies and series every day it’s been so therapeutic and relaxing.
I received a box of Turkish sweets and enjoyed delicious pistachio rolls and other yummy treats.
I read some really interesting posts on Substack .
After a long wait due to storage issues (sorry eheh), I finally decided to post my video on YouTube.
I watched The Life List moviei absolutely loved it! It inspired me to create a fresh new bucket list, different from anything I’ve done before.
Yesterday was June 13th, the exact day I graduated top of my class last year. I looked back on those beautiful moments and shared a few photos and videos with my friends.
I tried a new hair oil that smells like camellia it’s so lovely and soft.
I watched some really cool YouTube videos .
I discovered new inspiring Instagram accounts
I got back into reading books! I started one recommended by one of my favorite Substack writers and another one from my favorite tiktok content creator it’s full of essays and thoughtful “rules.” (I’ll share more in my next monthly favorites or TBR list!)
I realized my hair is getting lighter because of the sun, so I decided to go a bit darker there’s something so beautiful about having one even, rich tone.
I reached out to a few people by email about a problem I was having, and they replied with helpful advice and kind support it really meant a lot.
To the Girls in Their 20s , This is For You
If you’re in your 20s, feeling lost, unsure of where life is going, confused about your future, struggling to find a job, or wondering if your biggest dreams will ever come true this post is for you, bestie. I just want you to pause for a second. Breathe. Really breathe. I know you’re overwhelmed. I know you’re overthinking everything. And honestly? It’s okay. This is your first time navigating your 20s. Your first time figuring out adulthood, collecting life lessons, experiencing everything for the first time. That in itself is powerful.
Some days, you’re heartbroken because you didn’t get the job. Then the next week, you discover something even better than what you imagined. You think love isn’t meant for you, then out of nowhere, you meet someone who makes you grateful it never worked out with anyone else. You feel lonely while your friends move in different directions, but life surprises you with new friendships ones that feel more real, more aligned, more you. You try to succeed in a major or career that doesn’t feel right. Then you pivot. You start over. And it’s scary but it’s also the beginning of something unexpected and beautiful. You think your crush is the one, but your best friend has been looking at you with so much love all along. You fail an exam you worked months for, cry over it, break down until one day you finally understand why it had to happen like that.
You lose something you thought you couldn’t live without, and it breaks you. But later, life hands you a new chapter filled with even more than you imagined. I’m writing all of this to tell you: shift your lens. Start looking at your 20s as a book. Each chapter confusion, joy, sadness, success, loneliness, love it’s all part of the story. And it’s kind of beautiful when you see it that way.
I used to be negative. But ever since I shifted my mindset, everything started to make more sense. No one knows what will happen in their 20s. You could be totally lost at 20, and by 25 be graduating top of your class or launching your dream project. Maybe you have an idea in your heart, a hobby that lights you up don’t ignore it. One day, people will see your potential. One day, your people will find you. Until then keep showing up. Keep believing in the good even when it feels far away.
And if nothing else, do it for the version of you at 16 or 17 the one who dreamt about all of this. I know mine wouldn’t believe what I’m doing right now: writing an ebook (maybe even a real book one day?), getting messages from readers saying my posts changed their lives, growing a YouTube channel with almost 300 subscribers, and still being the girl with big dreams. I’m a physiologist, yes but also a creative girl . And I remember being 16 pouring my heart into Wattpad stories and dreaming of being an author.
The truth is, your childhood passions never really leave. Even if they go quiet for a few years they find their way back. At 17 I thought I’d never be this version of me. But now? I am. And I believe that even the wildest dreams are possible in your 20s. So please, keep going. Document everything your wins, your doubts, your questions. Write in journals, take photos, make videos. You’re living a story worth telling.
Document Your Little Life in Beautiful Details
Write it down. Film it. Capture it. Every little moment in your 20s matters more than you think. Use journals, digital cameras, or your phone anything that helps you hold on to the details. Because one day, when you're 30 or 40, you’ll look back and smile at how much you’ve grown. I know I do. When I scroll through old pictures my pre-braces smile, my chubby cheeks, the walks with besties at uni, the hotel vacations at 21 . Life was happening and I didn’t even realize how beautiful it was in the moment.
So please, document it all. And not just with photos write your thoughts. Get a fresh new journal and make it only for your 20s. Fill it with your dreams, your plans, the person you hope to become. Write letters to your future self. Imagine her. Become her.
Find Your Signature Everything :
I know it's not easy finding your signature style, your signature scent, makeup, hair. But it's such a fun journey. Start small. Maybe pick a perfume that becomes your scent memory. Or figure out the one makeup look that just feels like you. For me, I’ve always loved side parts since middle school. It’s just my thing. I’ve had long curtain bangs, full bangs and lately, I’ve realized I feel most like myself when my hair is wavy or curly. Super straight hair just doesn’t match my personality anymore. Try everything. Mix it up. See what reflects you. Experiment until you discover what’s truly yours.
Learn to Know Yourself :
Start asking yourself deep questions. You don’t have to answer them all today but journal your thoughts. Write prompts like:
What do I love and hate?
What’s my love language?
What inspires me?
Who are my icons, muses, role models?
What do I dream of doing, being, creating?
Write them in your Notes app. Or your journal. Anywhere. The more you explore, the better you’ll understand the real you and that’s the most powerful thing you can do in your 20s.
Simplify Your Routines :
One thing I’ve learned lately: simplicity is the best . Whether it’s your morning routine, skincare, or makeup less is more. I’ve started using every product to the last drop before buying anything new. I want to build a minimalist collection that feels intentional and curated. I watched a Bella Hadid interview where she was asked what three things she’d grab if she lost her purse. She said: “a good cream blush, a lip gloss, and mascara.” I mean yes. These are the real essentials. That’s the vibe I’m going for now . Same with skincare. I’m focusing only on what works. Fewer products, better results, less overwhelm.
Build Your Dream Life: You have time. You can become whatever you want yes, whatever. But you need to believe it. Start with a vision, then build a real plan. I promise, everything can change in a year if you commit. Every single day, take small actions that bring you closer to the life you dream of. Apply for the course. Reach out to the mentor. Post your first video. Create the brand. Try something that scares you. You are not behind. You’re in the middle of becoming. And remember: the beauty of this age is experience. You’re allowed to try, to fail, to change your mind. It’s all part of the process.
That’s it for this little preview Since there’s no paywall yet (hehe), I hope you enjoyed it. In the next chapters of the ebook, I’ll go deeper into:
Rules for your 20s
Thoughts on careers, creativity, hobbies
And everything I wish someone had told me earlier
So, I really hope you enjoyed this
I might release the full ebook by July or maybe even by the end of June. A lot has been going on lately, but I’m slowly finding more time to post and create for you.Just a little disclaimer: Mimy’s Journal is completely free for now, but in a few months, it will become a paid newsletter. Don’t worry though I’ll still be sharing content with my free subscribers too💌
If you’re enjoying Mimy’s Journal and want to support it, you can already pledge your support you won’t be charged until I officially launch payments.
